Women & Migration

Women migrants are doubly exposed, vulnerable in their condition as women and as migrants. These vulnerabilities simultaneously challenge a wide range of actors and institutions whose complementarity is still not very effective.

Although the proportion of women taking part in migratory flows has been noted for years, specific and cross-cutting approaches for better protection and access to rights for migrant women have been slow to be put in place. However, migrant women, workers and mothers, are calling on associations and trade unions to ensure that their actions complement each other in meeting their needs.

Mobilising in favour of migrant women is a powerful catalyst capable of bringing movements together and bringing about real change.
