Young Leaders Programme Sudan

The Young Leaders programme was launched in Sudan launched in 2012 and aims at strengthening the participation of young people in decision making processes. Every year, the programme mobilizes a select number of young Sudanese men and women (activists from civil society, political parties, and youth-led organizations/initiatives) and builds their capacity to tackle some of the major political, societal and socio-economic challenges the country is facing.

School of Social Democracy

In 2020, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Sudan launched the School of Social Democracy. This is a programme that targets young people from political parties and young democrats aged between 18 and 30 years old and this by respecting gender equality. In a five days camp, the participants get the opportunity to be trained on political education, enhance their skills on social democracy and learn how to promote for its values.

Throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), young people make up a large part of the population, and yet they are often not involved in political decision-making processes. Young people who felt politically and economically marginalised and not taken seriously by those in power, played a significant role during the uprisings of 2010/11. More
