A training course on strengthening the analytical capacities of trade unions in public finance was organized by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung MENA (FES MENA) in collaboration with the Arab Trade Union Confederation (ATUC).

The course brought together union representatives from the region to deepen their understanding of how public budgets affect workers’ economic and social rights. Participants were introduced to practical tools and indicators for assessing the social impact of financial decisions, with a focus on key areas such as wages, social protection, employment, and public services.

The training covered the main stages of budget analysis—from analyzing the broader economic and financial context to reviewing budget assumptions, forecasts, and detailed expenditure and revenue items.

By the end of the course, participants were better equipped to advocate for alternative policies grounded in social justice and sustainable development.
