تأسست مؤسسة فريدريش إيبرت في سنة 1925 وهي أكثر المؤسسات السياسية عراقة في ألمانيا. تلتزم المؤسسة إلى اليوم بإرث فريدريش إيبرت الذي ُسميت باسمه وتعمل على توطيد القيم الأساسية للديمقراطية الاجتماعية أي الحرية والعدالة والتضامن، كما ترتبط معنويًا بمبادئ الديمقراطية الاجتماعية وبالنقابات الحَّرة.
