12th Sustainable Cities Conference - Pathways Towards Just Urban Transitions Within MENA Cities

For the past eleven years, the Regional Climate and Energy Project MENA has been gathering practitioners, experts, civil society representatives and government officials at different cities within MENA to discuss new trends, challenges, opportunities along with sharing their expertise and best practices, aiming at pushing our cities to be sustainable, just and inclusive.

This year, at our 12th conference, we are focusing on “Just Urban Transitions”, conversing about the term’s different components and elements, ranging from urban and special planning, transport, technologies and AI, energy, green infrastructure and impacts on labour. Furthermore, a main topic for this year will be debating the trend of “new cities” within the region while exploring the historical perspective of cities, delving into their growth and evolution over time, and drawing lessons from past urban development approaches. All the above will be coherently and jointly presented with focus on gender along with the active participation of youth.
