One of the strengths of the MENA region is its human resource, it is the young people who will shape the society of tomorrow. They will build the future labor force and those who have to cope with the transformation of labor market, the revolution 4.0 and the effect of deeper globalization and economic interdependency.

However, they are facing big challenges, mainly high rate of unemployment, precarious working conditions and a tensioned political situation that make trade unions work difficult.

Trade Unions needs to pay more attention to the younger generation and recognize them as an essential source of power to revitalize the union and make them stronger again.

The Regional Trade Union Program in partnership with the Arab Confederation of Trade Unions continues with the academy of young trade union leaders in the MENA region, under the slogan " Young Leaders for a better future ", as it is important to continue the support for young unionist.

From 22nd to 28th of March with the presence of 23 young participants trade unionists from Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania, Libya, Bahrain, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Oman and Iraq took place. Two more meeting will take place in 2019 in Tunisia and Jordan.

This academy will be a great opportunity for these young trade unionists to improve their skills and know-how on several topics in the area of political, economy and social policy as well as enhance their skills in communication, campaigning and negotiation. The academy is also an opportunity to build a network of young people at the regional level who share their ideas and respective experiences. A joint campaign should improve the solidarity between the new generation of trade unionist.
