Arab Film Festival Berlin

The festival will take place from April 24th to April 30th, 2024, in various cinemas across Berlin

The FES MENA Department will once again take part in this year's ALFILM Festival. ALFILM Arab Film Festival Berlin is organized since 2009, It is the largest platform for the promotion of the diverse Arab cinematography in Germany. ALFILM aims to highlight films from the Arab world and its diaspora that are of high artistic value and offer challenging perspectives on contemporary cultural, social and political issues.

The festival will take place from April 24th to April 30th, 2024, in various cinemas across Berlin, including Arsenal, City Cinema Wedding, Sinema Transtopia, Wolf Cinema, and Cinema in the Culture Brewery (Kulturbrauerei). FES MENA supports four films: "19B," "The burdened," "Hounds," and "Machtat". For the festival's 15th anniversary, there is a special program called "15 Years ALFILM, 15 Years Arabic Cinema in Berlin," funded by the Capital City Cultural Fund (Hauptstadtkulturfonds). It features 50 films from the Arab world that have been rarely or never shown in Germany. Notably, the festival highlights Spotlight Palestine in Arab and international cinema, featuring the film "Here is Elsewhere: Palestine in Arab Cinema and beyond". Alongside film screenings, attendees can participate in masterclasses, panel discussions, and film talks.
