Sustainable Transformation of Energy Systems in MENA Countries: Comparative Report

This study assesses Jordan's current status on the road to full utilization of renewable energy, and discusses how to overcome challenges to advance to the next stages of the energy transition.

Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, Regional Climate & Energy Project MENA in cooperation with Wuppertal Institute developed a phase model for the transition to Renewable Energy in MENA countries and applied the model to ten countries in the region: Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia, and Yemen. The current status of the energy transition in these countries was assessed and analysed using the MENA Energy Transition Phase Model, and the information was summarised in the form of individual country studies. Additionally, a publication that synthesises the results of these ten countries studies and relates the findings was developed and ready to be discussed.
