The Friedrich Ebert Foundation with the International Domestic Workers Federation (IDWF) organized in 2016 two consultative workshops titled “Migrant domestic workers, advocacy and empowerments”. The first one was held in Beirut, Lebanon, 1st and 2nd of September, and reserved to Middle East countries and Morocco. The second one was in Manama, Bahrain 1st and 2nd of October, and dedicated to Golf countries as Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman.

During the two workshops, participants, representatives of civil society organizations and unions of the concerned countries and sending countries, analyzed the actual situation of domestic workers and the action plan to convince governments to sign and respect the convention C189, and to think about tools to support the workers through awareness campaigns like “My fair Home” that was launched in Thailand September 25th 2015. The regional trade union program will continue working on this issue in the coming years.
