The third and final Regional Thematic Network conference concluded the 16-month programme for young professionals throughout the MENA-region. Drawing on inputs by distinguished guest speakers (experts, political actors, activists), the participants engaged with a variety of issues related to principles of human rights, social justice and sustainability.

Firstly, a particular focus and cross-cutting theme was the importance of gender equality. Participants shed light on women’s rights movements in the Arab World, as well as the role of women in trade unions. Secondly, the participants discussed the reception of refugees in the Middle East with a focus on Jordan covering issues such as the implications of governance at national, regional and international levels. Thirdly, a discussion took place with politicians and activists from Jordan on how to take action against climate change and advance renewable energy policies.

Besides these inputs, the regional working groups presented the outcomes of their working processes and received feedback by the invited experts. The participants hence managed to wrap up different key topics addressed throughout the whole programme.
